Richard Gellar, M.D.
Dr. Gellar earned his A.B. degree from Columbia University and his M.D. from Duke University School of Medicine. He completed his General Psychiatry residency training at the Menninger Foundation School of Psychiatry in Topeka, Kansas. He served in the United States Public Health Service, attaining the rank of Senior Assistant Surgeon. He served on the teaching faculty at the Meninger Foundation School of Psychiatry and as an inpatient attending psychiatrist at the Veteran's Administration Hospital.
Dr. Gellar is board certified in General Psychiatry and is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association, the North Carolina Psychiatric Association, the North Carolina Medical Society, and the Mecklenburg County Medical Society.
Dr. Gellar relocated to Charlotte and joined Eastover Psychiatric Group in 1985. He continued to work in inpatient, partial hospitalization and outpatient settings for many years. Currently, Dr. Gellar focuses on providing outpatient psychiatric care to adolescents and adults.
