Jennifer Segura, M.D.
Dr. Segura earned her B.A. from Brown University and completed her post-baccalaureate premedical studies at Goucher College. She earned her M.D. from Wake Forest University where she was in the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. She completed her General Psychiatry residency and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at Duke University Medical Center. She served as Chief Fellow during her final year of fellowship at Duke.
In addition to the standard course of training, she concentrated on the treatment of pediatric anxiety. Dr. Segura also focused on learning multiple therapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, exposure and response prevention therapy, psychodynamic therapy, interpersonal therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness techniques, play therapy, family systems therapy, organizational and social skills training, parenting skills enhancement, addiction recovery skills group therapy, and existential therapy.
Dr. Segura grew up in Charlotte and was happy to return to the city in 2014 to be closer to her family and to join Eastover Psychiatric Group. She is Board Certified in General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, an Executive Board member of the North Carolina Council of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the North Carolina Psychiatric Association. She is also a member of the Charlotte Transgender Healthcare Group and is affirming of LGBTQ and gender nonconforming people.
She enjoys caring for children, adolescents, and adults with Anxiety Disorders, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, and Depressive Disorders.
